This month we’ve taken a real “in depth” look at EasyMemberPro. A client wanted to use it update one of their membership sites. Having not installed this before or even considered using it, we thought, why not, let’s roll it out and see what it can do.
The first challenge was to find hosting that it would run on. Some webhosts are not compatable with all scripts. Some are so basic you wouldn’t believe how hard it is to get even a wordpress blog installed on them.
Well the good news is easymemberpro is compatible with any hostgator hosting account. 
So having registered the dns of the clients site to the new hosting account, we set about setting up easymemberpro. We ftp’d the files, changed the settings and started to configure the script for them.
We have to admit we were very surprised at how easy this script is to use. The admin control panel is really intuitive, you can add your own unique header and footer graphics in a snip, you simply upload them through the admin panel. Really easy to do. You can set different headers and footers for your non members area i.e. what is displayed on the word wide web, and you can have different headers and footers for inside your members area. We think that’s a really neat feature.
Choosing your subscriber options is already built into the script. You either enable them or not as you choose. The script gives you SIX different options.
Easymemberpro allows you to set your members area as free should you just want free members, really useful for those who are just wanting to build a list of customers. You can choose a monthly recurring option to charge your memebers on a monthly basis. You can offer discounted membership fees with the 3 monthly option i.e. your members pay quarterly, another discounted option for your members to pay you bi-annually on a 6 monthly payment plan, or annually on a 12 monthly subscription plan. Or a one off lifetime membership fee.
For those who have decided on the free subscription to start them off, there is the option in the script to add a paid subscription any time you choose and to offer those free members the chance to upgarde to the paid for memberships.
Adding your products to the script is just a matter of designing your page and uploading your files. The inbuilt wysiwyg editor is fairly straightforward to use, or you can copy and paste your content pages into the script from your favourite editing program.
The thing that really impressed us with Easymemberpro was the ability to set up pages of content that expire, so new members joining cannot access the previous months content. But, should you choose it, there is the added bonus of setting a price for this content, so that new members can have the option to purchase previous content should they want it. It cool and it works, we’ve tested it and are really impressed with.
Easymemberpro has an inbuilt mailing system, so there is no need for an autoresponder, it mails out from within itself. The script also automatically expires members who decide to cancel their subscription, neat, and tidy, no more manually trying to match a subscriber to an email address and manually cancelling their account. But, here’s the neat thing with this feature, it doesn’t cancel them out immediately like some other scripts do, it simply allows them to still access the site for the rest of their membership period, and a week prior to their membership expiry, the script automatically sends them an email to remind them that their subscription is about to expire and offers them the chance to re join your membership site.
The cost of easymemberpro is just $97 and the licence allows you to install the script on as many sites as you own.Update 01/21/2010 The Price is now $127 improvements and updates have increased the price. Update 12/08/2010 New Pricing for the seriously updated script is now $197 and you can install it on as many websites as you own.
